Carolina Blue

This past Saturday I visited Chapel Hill Needlepoint, which is part of the Yarns, etc. shop. Wonderful friends had given me a pair of beautiful embroidery scissors recently, and encouraged me to check the shop out. This was the first time in about three years or longer since I had been in and I was delighted with what I found. Nancy explained that they had expanded the products to include so much of what I am interested in! Lots of fuel to feed your creative fire!

Storybook Wedding

Here are a couple of details from the stole completed this weekend. It is a custom order for a bride who is having a storybook wedding and wanted pixie dust reflected in the stole.

The white cotton fabric used as the base is Nicole Miller, dupioni silk for the cross and embroidered with silk floss. The beads used are a mixture of seed beads and crystals.

Lots and lots of French knots - and hand beading with crystals and seed beads embellish vintage French lace - all on creamy silk dupioni.

Butterfly Stole

What a joy to make! This was a special request from a friend who wanted butterflies "up and down" each side. This is what I came up with - hand dyed batik on a really lovely green cotton that has its own dimension in its weave. These appliques were hand embroidered with a blended egyptian thread that adds a lot to the pop. I also feel that it is really joyful. :)

A Butterfly for Babies

Twin girls were born to a couple of friends recently...and the nursery theme was butterflies and puppy dogs! The colors to be pink and lavender. Here is my original design in beadwork. The photo does not quite pick up the pretty glow that the glass beads have against the lavender dupioni, but I was pleased with the result!
